Album d'esordio uscito nel 1985 che conteneva il singolo bomba "Money's too tight (to mention)", arrivato nella top 20 britannica, ma soprattutto al numero 3 della classifica italiana. Cover dei Valentine Brothers, è stato un ottimo primo biglietto da visita della band britannica. L'album "Picture book" contiene altri fortissimi singoli : "Come to my aid", "Holding back the years", tutti brani che hanno portato i Simply Red ad un livello di fama internazionale.
La versione 2008, Collectors edition, viene arricchita dal dvd che contiene la performance del 1986 tenutasi a Montreux ed alcune nuove versioni audio.
